  • Perch will often be active first thing in the morning, I had this nice stripy on the fourth cast just after arriving at daybreak. It fell to a No.1 Mepps spinner in bronze with the barbs crushed to comply with the fishery barbless ruling. © 2013 Brian Gay

  • When spinning with a Mepps a slow retrieve can often lead to a response from perch. Note the free Angler's Mail gloves - very useful for spinning on cold days!
