A chub feeding over a bed of red squats on the bottom.

This time we see the head of a big chub enter from the left hand side of the frame right in front of the lens - almost touching it! The fishes lips are right over the tight dense patch of red squats laying on the bottom of the pond. You can see that the squats have indeed settled among some leaf and twig debris / detritus. This probably makes it harder for fish to select just the food item i.e. the squat when sucking in the target. In turn the result is often the fish getting a mouthful of squats and detritus so it inevitably tries to retain the food items and eject the noe food particulate.
